"Party Like It’s 1814!" All-Delegate Evening Event
Sponsored by Visit Baltimore
Baltimore is one of few cities that have painstakingly and lovingly preserved its history, whether it’s through old buildings that have gotten new life, original Belgian block roads or tall ships that once defended the city and have been turned into floating museums.
Experience what life was like during the city’s most rebellious period, the War of 1812, when Baltimore was declared “a nest of pirates” by the London newspapers thanks to the particularly aggressive privateers that disrupted British trade routes. This led to the famous Battle of Baltimore in 1814 when the city was defended at Fort McHenry and Francis Scott Key was so inspired by the victory that he wrote the poem that would later become our national anthem: “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
This event will feature classic American dishes, including lots of what Baltimore is known for best—seafood—and tons of entertainment throughout the night! (Hat and sword optional.)
